2018 Summer Conference Highlights: June 24-27, 2018

Conference Opening Night

This year's opening night kicked off with a reception for our nearly 200 fellows and members of our Board, providing the opportunity for fellows and Board members to learn more about each other. Our Student Awards Ceremony followed the reception and recognized our Emma Award winners and Student of the Year. The night ended with our inaugural "Emma Talks" in which five students shared on topics ranging from traveling abroad to the criminal justice system.

Many students were motivated to learn more about these fields after hearing from the speakers, such as Nielsen SVP of Global Communications & Multicultural Marketing Andrew McCaskill and Charter Communications VP of Multicultural Marketing Marisol Martinez. Technology breakouts covered artificial intelligence development, newsgathering technology, digital video content and technology, and “over-the-top.
