Senior Account Executive

The Colorado Sun is expanding our sales team and is seeking a full-time, experienced advertising salesperson to grow the Colorado market and support our growing public benefit corporation. We are an award-winning news outlet that covers the entire state, producing nonpartisan, independent news with no paywall.

The Senior Account Executive will be responsible for selling sponsorships to Sun public events, both virtual and in-person, Sun podcasts and other digital platforms. The account executive will also conceive of and execute digital advertising options and maintain relationships with clients while representing the brand at networking events.

Qualifications

• 3 years of media sales experience
• Familiar with digital sales and CRM tools, such as Newspaper Manager
• Commitment to representing our public benefit corporation’s mission
• Interest in developing relationships with clients and selling in a consultative manner
• Entrepreneurial, creative salesperson who works well independently yet as part of a team
• Goal-oriented to achieve monthly and annual revenue goals
• Must enjoy juggling multiple clients and projects simultaneously

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys cold calling, prospecting, helping clients achieve their goals, someone who thrives in a startup/growing environment, someone who works hard at reaching their revenue goals and someone who is highly organized.  

This person will contribute not only to the revenue goals of the company, but also share their ideas about growth in membership, events and marketing. The sales executive is also responsible for representing The Colorado Sun at various business and networking events, working at a Sun booth/table at conferences, facilitating trade relationships where necessary and helping to develop sales materials.  

Benefits and Compensation

Annual base salary range of $50,000 - $60,000, depending on experience, plus commission. The Colorado Sun offers health, vision and dental insurance to its employees, as well as a 401(k) plan after one year of employment.
