Director - Content Innovation

ABC7 / WLS-TV, THE WALT DISNEY OWNED STATION IN CHICAGO, is looking for an experienced, dynamic leader and premium content creator to develop and produce innovative and revenue-generating programming for all platforms.  The ideal candidate will create data driven content strategies and spearhead the station’s programming efforts – including a one-hour daily talk show, special broadcasts, local events, digital verticals, sales content and the ABC Owned Television Stations growing Localish brand. The Director of Content Innovation will serve as the chief thought leader for ideating, creating, and boosting premium programming content for WLS ABC 7 across all platforms.

Responsibilities

Generate ideas for, and oversee, local events, special broadcasts, digital verticals, sales content and Localish

Also includes oversight of live daily talk show, Windy City Live

Partner with forward-thinking sales leaders to maximize revenue opportunities with premium and integrated content deals

Takes risks and serve as a lead creative thought leader in the programming department  

Build and cultivate partnerships for growth and exposure

Create community and PR based ideas and events with our sales and marketing teams

Work directly with the Marketing and Audience Development team on best content for growth and distribution

Work directly with content creators and lead content initiatives, both inside and outside the station

Drive programming transformation as we shift emphasis to multi-platform, original content

Script, edit and shoot as necessary

Basic Qualifications

Proven and experienced leader with a track record of creating compelling content

Ability to take programming and digital media research and create action plans and guide staff based off that research

A leader that fosters collaboration and innovation among all team members

Ability to recognize, create and communicate priorities, strategies, opportunities and challenges while driving growth and performance improvement.

Excellent communication skills

Strong written, verbal and presentation skills

10+ years experience in media entertainment industry

Required Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Director - Content Innovation

Senior Media Manager

WLS - TV is seeking an experienced, hands-on manager who will facilitate continued evolution of content production and delivery through multiple services including digital platforms and traditional broadcasts.

Responsibilities

Candidate will participate in conceptualization, design and implementation of new technologies, as well as ongoing operation to support the fast-paced newsroom of the news leader in Chicago. This individual will work closely with editors, news producers, photographers, executive producers and management to ensure the timely and accurate production of newscasts, special reports and special segments. The candidate will assist with the design, implementation and maintenance of workflows between the IT and the News department. Also the candidate will manage media mangers, editors and develop weekly schedules.

Basic Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have significant experience in modern news production techniques including non-linear edit systems, media asset management (MAM), production automation systems and network/IP- based media systems

Candidates must demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, and be proficient verbal and written communicators

Demonstrates an enthusiasm for learning new technologies, tools and procedures to address short and long-term challenges

Excellent analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills coupled with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences

A minimum of 5 yeas’ experience with news production broadcast digital

Proficiency in Windows and Mac operating systems, file transcoding and transfer mechanisms, Adobe product line

WLS-TV is a 24/7 operation and the candidate may be required to work non-traditional shifts such as weekends/holidays, and be willing to be on call and/or work extra hours as needed. Candidate should be able to lift and carry equipment as necessary.

The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society - Corporate Relations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Corporate Relations Manager will act as a key member of a team responsible for the cultivation, engagement and management of the PHS’ corporate sponsor program. This person will be accountable for securing corporate support for key program areas within PHS, including, but not limited to the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show, the Pop Up Gardens, PHS annual public events, and the full portfolio of PHS greening and community building programs.

A successful candidate will be skilled in identifying potential corporate partners through thoughtful research and networking and by developing effective marketing and activation programs to encourage their involevment with PHS. This person must also possess a keen knowledge of the world of corporate philanthropy and understand the reasoning by which corporations support charitable organizations in the City of Philadelphia and the surrounding region. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Basic maintenance of studio sets, equipment, and lighting grid.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
• Must have excellent written communication skills (including handwriting, keyboarding, grammar & spelling).
• Must have excellent oral communication skills.
• Must be able to make decisions and react quickly & calmly to unexpected program changes, equipment malfunctions, and Breaking News/Severe Weather coverage.
• Position requires driving

The successful candidate will train on these skills:
• Ross Overdrive APC operation including: Ross Vision 2X video switcher, Robotic Cameras, Automated Audio, newsroom scripting software.
• Photoshop, After Effects, and basic Graphic Design principles.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• A High School diploma is required. An Associate Degree and 1-year TV Production experience preferred.
• This position requires active participation in the WQAD Production Training Program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good manual dexterity to operate the numerous small push buttons and rotary switches on equipment. Good eyesight & hearing. Headsets are used in communications.
