POSITION SUMMARY (Scope & Purpose)

The Digital Content Manager will be responsible for developing digital strategies that enhance our multi-platform approach to news gathering and dissemination and have experience developing original, sharable content.

If this job is for you, you are a newsroom leader with strong news judgment who will foster an ambitious digital newsroom culture. You flourish working in the 24-hour news cycle. You can help us better integrate digital and social media into our newscasts. You should be very well versed in social media and have the ability to teach newsroom personnel how best to successfully incorporate it in their daily lives.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will produce and create content for wqad.com.

You will develop strategies for growth on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and other emerging social media platforms.

You will manage, train, and coach a web staff.

 

 

Experience:

Previous success growing website and mobile views/visits is important, as well as experience improving performance from metrics.

Social Media/Audience Engagement experience

3 to 5 years news experience, be versed in all applicable legal issues and have excellent AP-style writing, spelling and grammar skills

Basic understanding of HTML, CMS, Photoshop and word processing programs

College degree required.

WQAD has a very successful social media presence. The right person for this role will lead us to the next level and drive higher levels of engagement, web traffic, and television viewing from our social audiences.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Dexterity to operate a keyboard, computer and other such equipment.  Communication skills used in office setting.
